Cool grooves and catchy hooks run throughout imposter X’s debut CD. The music is best described as melodic pop or pop alternative. The one-man band started writing songs at 15-years of age and draws on pop music influences that span the decades, from the Beatles, to Bread, to The Police, Gin Blossoms, Jack Johnson and Weezer.
Inspired by songwriters such as Paul McCartney, David Gates, Billy Joel and Sting, imposter X’s songs explore love, joy, longing, contemplation, desperation, and paranoia. Anchored by crisp guitar riffs, his arrangements include accent instruments, such as the xylophone or electric piano, to add additional layers of color to his songs.
Besides writing music on his own, the self-taught musician from Southern California has played bass guitar with many bands, including Blank and Limited Time.
